Global initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) er en international organisation der udformer internationale guidelines for KOL.
Den seneste udgave af GOLD guideline kom i år 2023 [2]. Dette indebar bl.a. en opdateret definition på KOL:
“a heterogeneous lung condition characterized by chronic respiratory symptoms (dyspnea, cough, expectoration, exacerbations) due to abnormalities of the airways (bronchitis, bronchiolitis) and/or alveoli (emphysema) that cause persistent, often progressive, airflow obstruction”
